GLOSSARY

Accountability

Acknowledging impact, taking responsibility, and making repair possible. Not punishment — recognition.

Understanding Accountability

Accountability is the bridge between harm and repair. It's what allows relationships to repair after something goes wrong.

True accountability includes: - Acknowledging what happened ("I did this") - Recognizing the impact ("It hurt you") - Taking responsibility ("That's on me") - Making space for repair ("What do you need?")

Accountability is not the same as guilt, shame, or self-punishment. It's not about being "bad." It's about being honest — and creating the conditions where trust can rebuild.

Without accountability, wounds stay open. The person harmed keeps carrying something that was never acknowledged.
